Welcome to EIHRA!

I am pleased to have the opportunity to serve as your 2010 President of the Eastern Indiana Human Resource Association. I have been a member of EIHRA and its predecessor the Richmond Personnel Association since 1987. I have served on the Board of Directors both in the 1990’s and again since 2006.

What a year 2009 was for human resource professional! The economic downturn has greatly affected many companies, and human resource professionals have been at the forefront of the changes which have taken place. The networking opportunities which are available through EIHRA have proven to be invaluable in learning how other organizations are handling their challenges. Those of us who are members of our parent organization, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), have relied on their expertise as we have sought answers to new questions in human resources.

We continue to wonder what we face in 2010 as we look at the possibilities for health care reform, passage of the Employee Free Choice Act, changes in retirement plans, and other workplace issues which are before Congress and the President. Through our contacts with SHRM and the speaker resources which we will provide, we hope to keep each of you as up to date as possible in this ever changing world.

Our goal as an organization is to provide each of you a quality professional development experience at our monthly meetings, and to enhance the networking opportunities for each member of the association.

All members of our board of directors join me in welcoming you to our monthly meetings and encourage you to contact us if you have special requests for meeting topics, or if you know of a dynamic speaker who can bring his/her expertise to us.
