EIHRA
Committee Opportunities
The Eastern
Indiana Human Resource Association has a number of committees that
have been established to support the purpose and goals of the Association.
EIHRA members are eligible to serve on one or more committees.
We realize that
professional and personal demands often place limitations on volunteer
participation. The EIHRA has taken that into account and has established
volunteer opportunities ranging from short-term tasks to positions
with varying term or time commitments.
There are a
variety of opportunities in each respective area listed below. Please
consider how you can become more involved in the EIHRA – the
local association representing your profession. Please contact Dianne
S. Chandler and indicate the area that you have the greatest
interest in and/or would most like to serve in. I encourage you
to get involved!
Membership
Committee
Identify and contact potential new EIHRA members. Help increase
membership in the EIHRA and SHRM by assisting with the semi-annual
membership drives. Work together with other HR professionals to
approach small business owners and share the value and resources
the EIHRA offers when we kick off our outreach campaign. Help develop
a member recognition campaign. Become a greeter at EIHRA Chapter
meetings and events or serve as a mentor to a new member.
Marketing
and Public Relations Committee
Help increase awareness of the EIHRA, build credibility and advance
the HR profession by writing a story or article for the local media
and/or EIHRA newsletter. Provide a testimonial of how the EIHRA
has impacted you and the HR profession that could be used in marketing
materials. Assist with the creation of marketing materials that
will share the benefits of membership, including brochures and an
e-newsletter.
Work together
with other HR professionals to approach small business owners and
share the value and resources the EIHRA offers when we kick off
our outreach campaign. Promote the EIHRA in the communities that
we serve by representing the EIHRA at community events (Business
After Hours, 5K Runs).
Workshop/Mini
Conference
Work alongside other volunteers serving in a variety of capacities
from selecting and working with speakers to arranging for catering,
contacting vendors, registering attendees, arranging door prizes,
setting up and tearing down venue, introducing speakers, and much
more!
Workforce
Readiness and Governmental Affairs Committee
As an HR professional and as a member of the EIHRA, you can play
an instrumental role in influencing legislation on the state and
national levels. You may get involved in a letter-writing campaign
or, as a SHRM member, participate in the HR Voice initiative.
Professional
Development Committee
Serve as a resource to the EIHRA by identifying topics of importance
to the HR profession and recommending and/or referring speakers
for Chapter Meetings, Workshops, and EIHRA Events. Introduce the
speaker at a EIHRA Chapter meeting.
Nominating
Committee
Three
EIHRA members are needed to serve on the Nominating Committee each
year. The committee has a short-term assignment that includes making
contact with members to determine their interest in serving on the
EIHRA Board of Directors to creating a ballot and counting votes
at the EIHRA Annual Meeting.
HR Certification
Institute Re-Certification Event
Prepare and deliver an “after hours” educational session
for HR Certified professionals who need guidance on how to re-certify.
This is an outreach campaign to all HR Certified professionals in
the communities that we serve. Membership in the EIHRA is not required
for participation in this event.
